One of the most beautiful and unique properties on the Italian coast built on the remains of a large 50 BC Roman Villa belonging to the Domitii Ahenobarbi family from which Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus, better known as Nero, was descended.

Within the villa’s confines lies the longest stretch of Roman Wall of the whole compound, adjacent to the sea. On the waterfront, there are very visible remains of the storage facilities (horrea), probably used for fish and farm products. Also clearly seen in this area, underwater, are the docking facilities built by the Romans.

This villa was featured in the 1970 movie classic “The Adventurers” with Candice Bergen and Ernest Borgnine. Completely rebuilt on original 2000 year old stone foundations in 1988, the house has every modern comfort.
